Tree Poem by Alice

Forlying, Forlying, Forlying
Smash!!
days and day prse by
and not a thing happens
the brown shall is
an skoth
an tell a crak
a sprout a tree is bern

Falling, falling, falling
Smash!
Days and days pass by and
not a thing happens
The brown shell is unscathed
Until a crack
A sprout a tree is born.

  1. Oh my goodness. What a beautiful poem. I think I prefer the original spelling. Forlying is a great word. And an skoth makes me think of a little squirrel-like creature.

  2. Do we have a latter-day Dylan Thomas here?

  3. Forlying is kind of beautiful, isn't it - that echo of forlorn.

  4. I LOVE THIS. I love the word-pictures she's made. The first version feels violent, wrenched from the fabric of the universe, the second is gentler, kinder.
